小川プロの「三里塚」シリーズ第1作。この作品を契機に小川プロの“定点観測”による撮影が確立されていく。カメラは機動隊に対して武装を決断する青年行動隊を中心に闘争の内部へと入り込んでいく。小川は「全ショットを農民の列中から、その視座から撮り、権力側を撮るにも、正面から、それとの対面で、すべてを撮った」と語っている。
